Taboo Muskoka, a premier resort destination, is seeking Stewards/Dishwashers to join our Culinary Team at The Boathouse Restaurant. This role is ideal for individuals who are looking to gain experience in the hospitality industry while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas, ensuring smooth kitchen operations, and upholding high health and safety standards in the kitchen.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scrape, wash and sanitize dishes, kitchen utensils, and larger kitchen equipment within set deadlines.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations, including floors, tables, and equipment.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties in the kitchen.
  • Remove and properly dispose of garbage and recycling.
  • Organize and prepare dishware for events and functions.
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, and deep-cleaning tasks as required.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, ensuring a hygienic work environment.
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic tasks as needed.
  • Attend training sessions and comply with company policies, as outlined in the team member handbook.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/REQUIREMENTS

  • No prior experience required – on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Basic English communication skills.
  • High regard for health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
  • Comfortable working in varied kitchen settings, including:
    • Indoor and outdoor high-heat industrial kitchens.
    • Working with sharp knives, hot equipment, and liquids.
  • Physical ability to:
    • Stand for 90% of the shift.
    • Lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Kneel, push, or pull kitchen equipment.
    • Work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal

 

Pay: $17.60 to $18.00 per hour

 

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
