Associate Assistant Golf Course Superintendent - Lora Bay

Lora Bay is looking for an Associate Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to assist in leading the cultivation and maintenance of our golf course while providing supervision, leadership, and support to the maintenance team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead by example with professionalism, strong work ethic, and exceptional attention to detail.
- Take ownership of daily tasks and project execution, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to Lora Bay Golf Club conditioning standards.
- Assist with daily staff supervision, performance coaching, and corrective action when required.
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship for all Turf Department team members, promoting adherence to industry best practices.
- Contribute positively to team culture by recognizing accomplishments and fostering an environment built on pride, respect, and accountability.
Agronomy & Course Maintenance
- Execute and oversee accurate pesticide and fertilizer applications, including calibration, recordkeeping, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Support the Superintendent and Assistant with irrigation monitoring, troubleshooting, and system operation.
- Assist with cultural practices, project execution, course setup, and daily conditioning tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow environmental stewardship guidelines and club policies.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote and uphold a strong health and safety culture across the Turf Department.
- Ensure staff operate equipment correctly and follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in workplace inspections, safety meetings, and compliance documentation as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Qualifications & Skills)
- Diploma or degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of progressive turf or golf course maintenance experience, including some supervisory responsibilities.
- Proven leadership abilities with strong delegation, communication, and motivational skills.
- Solid planning and organizational capabilities with the ability to execute projects from concept to completion.
- Strong problem-solving instincts and the ability to develop practical, creative solutions.
- Relevant turf and pesticide certifications/licenses, or the ability to obtain them within required timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, conflict resolution, and team mentorship abilities.
- Commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and continuous improvement in turf management practices.
