Great Gulf is seeking a talented and experienced Sr. Analyst, Infrastructure to join our team in Toronto.
The Sr. Infrastructure Analyst will help design, operate, and evolve the enterprise infrastructure — both on-premises and in the cloud. This position will work hands-on with modern technologies spanning networking, virtualization, storage, security, and cloud architecture, ensuring our systems stay secure, available, and efficient.
This is a highly technical role for someone who is comfortable leading projects, automating workflows, and improving how infrastructure is built, monitored, and maintained.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Infrastructure Design & Operations
- Deploy, configure, and manage Windows Server and Linux environments, both on-prem and in Microsoft Azure.
- Maintain and optimize virtualized platforms (Hyper-V, virtualization, or containerized workloads).
- Manage enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS), ensuring performance and redundancy meet workload demands.
- Oversee network performance and resilience, including routing, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless systems (Aruba preferred).
Cloud & Automation
- Implement and support hybrid infrastructure solutions, integrating Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Backup, Entra ID).
- Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles where possible (e.g., PowerShell, automation).
- Automate provisioning, patching, and monitoring tasks with PowerShell, Bash, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Implementation and ongoing support of M365 applications including SharePoint, Exchange, Intune.
Monitoring, Security & Compliance
- Manage infrastructure monitoring and alerting platforms (e.g., PRTG, Azure Monitor).
- Maintain system health, performance metrics, and capacity planning dashboards.
- Apply security hardening baselines and coordinate regular patch management.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity testing and documentation.
- Implement and maintain data backup and replication strategies using tools like Veeam and native Azure recovery services.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for infrastructure incidents and major outages.
- Participate in solution design sessions for new business applications and integrations.
- Work with vendors and managed service providers to support infrastructure operations and upgrades.
- Provide mentorship, training, and documentation to IT support and operations staff.
- Contribute to infrastructure roadmaps, modernization initiatives, and project planning.
COMMUNICATION/INFLUENCING OTHERS
- This position requires both written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or cloud engineering.
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, M365, Azure AD, Group Policy).
- Hands-on experience with Linux (Redhat/CentOS) and cross-platform integrations.
- Strong understanding of networking principles: routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Experience managing Hyper-V environments and clustering for high availability.
- Familiarity with storage arrays, iSCSI, and SMB/NFS protocols.
- Solid scripting and automation background (PowerShell, Bash, Python optional).
- Proven experience with backup, replication, patch management, and endpoint security practices.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes, change management, and documentation standards.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Solutions Architect, CompTIA Network+ / Security+, Hyper-V.
- Experience with Zero Trust networking, conditional access, and endpoint management (Intune, Autopilot).
- Exposure to DevOps pipelines, Git, or automated infrastructure deployment.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
- Office environment – sitting/working at desk/computer in a shared office space and/or remote working from home.
