Great Gulf is seeking a talented and experienced Jr. Analyst, Infrastructure to join our team in Toronto.
The Jr. Infrastructure Analyst will help keep IT's systems secure, stable, and running smoothly. This position will be directly involved in supporting core infrastructure operations across both on-premises and cloud environments, with hands-on exposure to servers, networking, storage, and security. This role is ideal for someone who already has some experience in IT support or systems administration and wants to grow into a full infrastructure or cloud engineering career. They will learn from senior team members, get exposure to modern technologies, and gain practical experience maintaining enterprise-grade environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
System Monitoring & Support
- Monitor infrastructure systems (servers, storage, network, and cloud) using tools such as PRTG, Azure Monitor, or equivalent.
- Respond to alerts, incidents, and tickets — escalating issues to senior staff when required.
- Perform regular system health checks, patching, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Assist with backups, restore testing, and system updates following established procedures.
Infrastructure Operations
- Support the configuration and upkeep of Windows Server and Linux systems.
- Assist with Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365 administration — including user provisioning, group policies, permissions, exchange, SharePoint, and intune.
- Help manage and monitor Hyper-V environments and virtual machines.
- Contribute to maintaining SAN/NAS storage systems and monitoring capacity usage.
Networking & Cloud
- Support day-to-day LAN/WAN operations, including switches, firewalls, and VPN connectivity.
- Help troubleshoot network connectivity or performance issues in hybrid Azure environments.
- Learn and assist with deploying cloud resources and managing Azure compute, storage, and backup workloads.
Documentation & Process
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for system configurations, maintenance routines, and troubleshooting steps.
- Follow change management and incident response procedures to ensure system stability and accountability.
- Track and close service requests using the organization’s ITSM or helpdesk system.
- Participate in process improvement discussions and suggest automation opportunities.
Collaboration & Growth
- Work closely with the Director of Infrastructure and senior team members on projects and daily operations.
- Participate in hands-on learning opportunities, shadowing, and mentorship.
- Build foundational skills in PowerShell, Bash, and automation tools over time.
- Support the broader IT team by sharing knowledge and contributing to technical documentation.
COMMUNICATION/INFLUENCING OTHERS
- This position requires both written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 1–3 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or technical support.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server and Active Directory fundamentals.
- Exposure to Microsoft 365, Azure, or similar cloud environments.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts — IP addressing, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs.
- Familiarity with backup systems (Veeam or similar) and patching tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and willingness to learn.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
- Office environment – sitting/working at desk/computer in a shared office space and/or remote working from home.
