SUMMARY
The Intermediate Architectural Technologist is responsible for working on several building types from single family homes to mid-rise buildings from concept though production drawings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Update current project models with new standards or develop new models
- Manage and coordinate product design
- Update detail standards as part of ongoing product initiative
- Model concept designs and construction documents in Revit
- Develop drawing standards or details for Revit if required
- Develop understanding of additional proprietary software
- Rendering of concepts for presentation
- General CAD assistance with several managers as required
COMMUNICATION/INFLUENCING OTHERS (Contacts)
- Communication/coordination with Draft Design team, consultants, project managers and sales department on an ongoing basis while preparing product drawings
CUSTOMER SERVICE
The services are provided for Great Gulf developments only.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills)
- Excellent knowledge of Revit (i.e. building computer modeling, coordinating documents)
- Ability to prepare schematic and concept design packages in 3D
- Knowledge of wood construction systems and detailing required to create high quality design and construction documents, including 3D renderings
- Experience with Sketchup, V-Ray, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, 3DS Max and other related software is considered an asset
- Willingness to learn new CAD and rendering software
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
- Articulate, passionate and persuasive communicator with the ability to convey design technology concepts to other team members and consultants
- Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Effective time management skills
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
No management requirement, but may be required to supervise and review the work of others.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
The job entails basically working at a desk with a computer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, bending and twisting is not required for the job. It is low impact. Ergonomic sitting is required.
