SUMMARY
The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays an integral role in Great Gulf’s success by attracting and recruiting top talent by overseeing the full life-cycle recruitment process for all business groups under the Great Gulf umbrella. The incumbent will further evolve the Talent Acquisition function to be a recognized value-added business partner by applying best practice standards and customized services to meet business hiring needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive intake sessions with hiring managers to understand their business, the position requirements and recommend recruiting strategies accordingly.
- In partnership with the People and Culture Business Partners, manage full life cycle recruiting for all assigned positions, including job postings (internal and external), candidate sourcing and telephone screening, short-listing candidates with recommendations delivered to hiring managers.
- Participate in in-person interviews as requested by hiring managers.
- Manage the job offer process for assigned positions including compensation discussions, preparing and sending offer letters, and background verification.
- Begin onboarding process for new hires; seamlessly transition new hires to the People and Culture Business Partners to complete onboarding process.
- Develop and maintain Great Gulf’s talent pipeline through continuous screening of candidates.
- Provide coaching and guidance to hiring managers and interviewers on policies and best practices as needed.
- Ensure an excellent experience for all candidates and hiring managers through every step of the recruitment process through transparency and by providing regular updates.
- Work with People and Culture Business Partners to understand needs and develop a campus talent acquisition strategy to establish sustainable candidate pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
- Work with People and Culture Business Partners to develop and implement a referral program.
- In partnership with all members of the Human Resources team, Marketing and Executives, assist in building and promoting the Great Gulf talent brand.
- If required or requested, assist in the research, business case development and implementation of an Applicant Tracking System.
- Other duties as assigned.
COMMUNICATION/INFLUENCING OTHERS (Contacts)
The Talent Acquisition Specialist acts as a first point of contact and representative of the GG Group of Companies to all prospective employees. Will liaise with and build relationships with prospective candidates, recruitment agencies, post-secondary institutions, hiring managers, department heads, executive team, employees, etc.
Communication will often be confidential and sensitive in nature, requiring a high degree of integrity, trust, and discretion. Will be responsible for negotiating terms of employment with candidates, so must conduct all negotiations in good faith and maintain a positive, professional approach.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Customers include, but are not limited to all employees, hiring managers, department heads, executive team, prospective job seekers, active candidates, recruitment agency partners, and post-secondary institution partners.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills)
- University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources
- 3+ years of progressive HR talent acquisition experience
- Experience in the construction, development, sales, hospitality, and manufacturing preferred
- Experience in sourcing hard-to-fill roles
- Demonstrated business acumen and consultative skills with ability to partner with leaders in defining their talent needs
- Robust knowledge of current best-practices regarding talent acquisition programs and techniques
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong ability to take initiative, problem solve and make decisions within scope of job
- Strong track record of customer service and effective people skills
- Portfolio management – ability to effectively manage a corporate portfolio consisting of 10+ vacancies/requisitions at one time
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a positive team environment
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
This position is not responsible for performance management and/or disciplinary action, however, does provide supervision to the People and Culture Generalist who is responsible for supporting the recruitment process. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will provide direction, supervision and guidance to the People and Culture Generalist in all aspects of the recruitment process.
The Talent and Acquisition Specialist may be asked to provide input into the Human Resources budget and estimates related to talent acquisition and recruitment needs.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
- Indoors in a shared office space.
- Depending on client groups and to fully understand working conditions of all vacancies they are recruiting for, may require outside, walking in resort, golf, construction, manufacturing, or other environment.
- Wear appropriate uniform, personal protective equipment as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit and operate a computer for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk around to meet with staff on a regular basis and visit clients at their location if supporting client group outside physical work location.
